Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Episodeo is a movie, series, and anime tracking app. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Short version: Episodeo uses your data to run the app, sync your watch history, power social features you choose to use, improve safety, and respond to support requests. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use advertising networks in the current beta.
1. Who we are and legal framework
Episodeo is operated from Switzerland. Episodeo's operator acts as the data controller for personal data processed through the Episodeo website and mobile app.
Because Episodeo is operated from Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/nLPD) applies. If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may also apply to your personal data.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information created when you use Episodeo, and limited technical information needed to run and secure the service.

3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Sync your watch history, watchlists, ratings, reviews, and app settings.
- Provide social features such as following, comments, shared watchlists, and visibility controls.
- Send notifications you enable.
- Personalize app features, recommendations, and discovery tools.
- Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, moderate reported content, and debug issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases
Where GDPR or similar rules apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the core Episodeo service you request.
- Consent: for optional features such as push notifications or optional profile information.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve the app.
- Legal obligation: to respond to lawful requests or meet legal requirements.
5. User generated content and visibility
Episodeo includes social and community features. Depending on your privacy settings, other users may see your profile, username, display name, avatar, bio, public reviews, comments, ratings, watch activity, favorites, stats, followers, following, and shared content.
You can control visibility through app settings, including profile privacy, review visibility, reply permissions, spoiler settings, and online presence settings where available.
6. Imported data, including TV Time
You may import watch history from other services by selecting an export file, including a TV Time export zip. Episodeo does not ask for your login credentials for those services.
When you import a file, Episodeo may upload and store the archive and the imported data to process the import, sync it with your account, and preserve your imported history. Imported data may include watch history, ratings, comments, lists, follows, and related information included in the export.
You can delete imported data by deleting your app data or deleting your account. You can also contact us at episodeoapp@gmail.com.
7. Service providers
Episodeo uses trusted service providers to operate the website and app. These providers may help with hosting, authentication, databases, storage, forms, notifications, content metadata, artwork, search, support, moderation, security, and beta testing.
These providers only receive the information needed to perform their services. Some may process data outside Switzerland or the EU/EEA. When required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards for these transfers.
Episodeo does not sell personal information. Episodeo does not use advertising networks in the current beta.
8. Cookies and website forms
The website may use cookies or similar technologies to operate, secure, and improve the site. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the website may not work properly.
If you submit a website form, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message, so we can respond or manage launch access.
9. Account and data deletion
You can delete your account or delete your app data from Settings → Danger Zone in the app.
Deleting your account may remove your login, profile, watch history, ratings, reviews, comments, collections, social data, notification preferences, device tokens, imported files, and imported data. Deleting only your data lets you keep your login while wiping your content.
You can also request deletion by emailing episodeoapp@gmail.com from the email linked to your account. We aim to respond within 7 days.
10. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active or while needed to provide Episodeo. If you delete your account or data, we remove it from live systems. Residual copies in backups may remain briefly until they are purged through normal backup cycles. We may keep limited security or legal records where required by law.
11. Security
Episodeo uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections, access controls, managed authentication, and infrastructure security controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can exercise many rights directly in the app by editing your profile, deleting content, changing settings, deleting app data, or deleting your account. You can also contact episodeoapp@gmail.com for privacy requests.
If you are in Switzerland, you may contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. If you are in the EU/EEA, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
13. Children's privacy
Episodeo is not directed to children under 13 or under the minimum age required in their country. Episodeo may ask for date of birth or age information during account creation to confirm eligibility. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age.
If you believe a child below the applicable minimum age has provided personal information, contact episodeoapp@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.
14. Changes to this policy
Episodeo may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. For material changes, we may also provide notice in the app or by email where appropriate.
